Bullying

Bullying at Mountain Creek Middle School

Every student at Mountain Creek Middle School deserves to feel safe and respected. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. It is often repeated over time and can take many forms—physical, verbal, emotional, or online (cyberbullying).

Examples of bullying include:

  • Offensive jokes
  • Derogatory statements about someone’s ethnicity, race, gender, beliefs, etc.
  • Inappropriate touching or lewd gestures
  • Threatening language or behavior
  • Sexual comments
  • Unwelcome taunting or teasing

What to Do if You’re Bullied:

  1. Tell the individual to stop, if you feel safe doing so.
  2. If the behavior continues, talk to your counselor or assistant principal.
  3. You can also use the Safe UT app to report bullying confidentially.

Remaining silent allows bullying to continue. Speaking up is the first step to getting help.

Consequences for Bullying:

  • In-school suspension
  • Out-of-school suspension
  • Involvement of police if necessary
